Early 1900s Gold Country Farm Implement Wrench
Recovered by metal detecting in the Placer County foothills of Northern California, this heavy iron wrench is a striking piece of Gold Country working history.
Its unusual curved handle, open wrench jaws, and large square opening suggest it was made for servicing early agricultural or industrial equipment such as plows, cultivators, wagons, mowers, or other machinery used throughout the foothills.
The exact maker is unknown because no readable markings remain. Based on its construction and design, it is believed to date to the early 1900s.
The original excavated surface has been preserved, including its deep rust coloration, pitting, and naturally aged patina. It has not been polished or restored, allowing the piece to retain the character earned during decades beneath the soil.
